Patchworky us
Now this is you. This is really truly you. That's one of the lines of "Sort samvittighed", a musical currently running in Betty Nansen in Copenhagen. The women are lined up, in pink gowns and hair in curlers, and they sing that line to eachother over and over again. As if they've been through a makeover that has polished off their rough edges and revealed their true natures inside. Makes me wonder if this is a universally female experience, this feeling of not knowing ourselves. Because no matter how far I stand back, I also can't see the pattern of...

Sock knitting is the best, actually
I've been learning to knit socks, which is the biggest pleasure the universe could have granted me at this time. It is delightful beyond words. I actually don't know how to describe how much joy it brings me. I've been thinking about knitting socks for weeks if not months. The other day when walking around in Indre By (downtown Copenhagen), perusing Bog&Ide, I spotted a book called "No Fear Sock Knitting". I didn't buy it that day, thinking I should just find a free pattern and a YouTube tutorial to get me started. But I happened to pass by again...

Weekend frolic: From Lyngby to Raadvad to Bakken through Dyrehaven
It's 24 May and we've just come out of Danish winter, where it's been dark and cold for many months. For different reasons, this is the first time in a while we had the time, weather, and peace of mind to head out on a longer walk. Tomorrow is a day off, the weather is great, and we have nowhere to be. We took the train to Lyngby St. First things first: Coffee and brunch. I don't think we've been to Lyngby before. I guess I imagined something more surburban. From there we walked North, aiming for Raadvad Kro. On...

Knitting the Albert Pilot Beanie by PetiteKnit
Two of my colleagues are going on maternity leave so I decided to take on a delusional knitting project to gain some skills and gift them a cute thing. With barely two projects under my belt I would be lying if I said I am a strong knitter. But I liked the idea of trying to knit them something anyway. I decided to go for the Albert Pilot Beanie by PetiteKnit. I still have no idea about yarn weights or gauge, so I visited a local yarn stores for help. The lady in the shop kindly pointed me to some...

Yearning for simple sewing
I've been wanting to sew clothes for years and I just never really got into it or enjoyed it. I've made a thing once or twice but it always felt a little stressful. I never liked what I made. But then some random autumn night last year I was bored of wasting my evenings scrolling on my phone. I wanted to do anything else, regardless of what came out of it. Literally ANYTHING but wasting away online. I made a shirt from the easiest pattern I could get my hands on. I didn't really like the style, it was just...
